Day 3
Kirilee Fisher
Yesterday was the 31st and the second day of our trip. Day 1 and 2 were kind of entwined into each other, this was because we were on the plane for so long and the time differences. Most of us slept on the second plane, or at least tried to, and were woken up to eat our plane food which everyone had different opinions about. I didn’t like the meal we ate for dinner and I think that was because I was half asleep. Breakfast was good though.
We got off the plane at about 7 o’clock in a huge airport on the north side of Paris. We made our way to the luggage collection area, going on the longest escalator I’ve ever been on that seemed to go on forever. Our luggage than took about half an hour to appear on the conveyor belt. After we collected our luggage we met our guide who took us out to the bus, that than took us to the BVJ Quartier Latin, the place we were staying that night. We dropped our big, heavy bags off than made our way to the Australian Embassy. There we were talked to by a few people that worked there and found out what they actually do our here in Paris.
Our next stop was The Quai Branly Museum where we had a look at art and items from many different cultures. It was very exciting when we found some items and art from Indigenous Australians. It was very interesting looking around but we always had to make sure we had one of the teachers or other students in sight because it was darker and very easy to get lost.
Lunch was where we all wanted to had for next. We found a nice bakery and a tiny supermarket that could only fit a few people in it at a time, and we purchased some lunch.
We then walked to Musee d'Orsay, in a faster than usual pace because it started to rain. The Museum was great. I walked around with the art students and we looked at paintings that we had studied in class which was so amazing. We looked at some of the famous artists paintings like Van Gogh, and saw how big some of the paintings were in real life. Everyone was getting so tired, that when we meet at the exit, everyone sat anywhere they could while we waited for people to go to the toilet. We then walked back to our hostel, past Notre Dame.
We went out for dinner and then went straight to a well deserved sleep.
